Chehalis is a city located in Lewis County and is considered by many as the county seat of Lewis County. As of a 2000 census, Chehalis served as a home for almost 7,100 residents.
The city of Chehalis began as a settlement based around a warehouse located beside a railroad track in 1873. By the time 1874 came, a store was added near the warehouse and new homes were being constucted as many made way towards Chehalis.
As many small cities in the state of Washington, Chehalis was a logging town as it is surrounded by forests.

Chehalis is the halfway point between Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon.
