Concrete, Washington Relocation
Concrete is a small town located in Skagit County of Washington. During a 2000 census, a total of 800 residents were recorded as living there. Originally, the town of Concrete was a settlement at the northwestern junction of the Baker and Skagit Rivers. Not long after, a post office was established and the town name was changed to "Baker." In 1905, a settlement just across the Baker river had developed due to the building of the Washington Portland Cement Company and was given the name "Cement City." In 1908, the towns of Cement City and Baker merged together and they had settled on the name of "Concrete."
The current town of Concrete is home to the Henry Thompson Bridge, the Lower Baker Dam, the Historic Concrete Theater, Concrete High School, and the Sheperd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Concrete is probably most known for the "War of the Worlds" radio drama that had occurred on the air in 1938.
If you were familiar with the area, you would also know that the town of Concrete is also well known for the Old-Fashioned Concrete Fly-In and the Cascade Days summer weekend celebration. Concrete is a very spread out town with a low population, but is said to contain friendly families, nice developments, and plenty of room to roam.
