Duvall, Washington Relocation

Duvall is a city located in King County, Washington. It is located halfway between Monroe and Carnation. As of a 2000 census, it served as a home for nearly 4,700 residents. Originally, Duvall was historically the home of the Snoqualmie and other ancestral Tulalip tribes. The area that is now the present day Duvall, was on a hillside that was a homestead for Francis and James Duvall, the city's namesake in the 1870's.

An early milestone in the settlement of Duvall was the the relocation of the town known as Cherry Valley. This movement occured around 1909 when the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad agreed to move Cherry Valley homes and businesses to the Duvall area in order to continue the construction of a railroad line along the Snoqualmie River. It was at this time that the town underwent a real estate boom as streets and sidewalks were laid and a train depot was constructed. It was then followed by a movie house, a drug store, a new schoolhouse, and several hotels. Today Duvall is still the quiet and peaceful town it was back in the early 1900's. Though real estate may not be booming as fast, the town continues to grow into one of the most peaceful neighborhoods in the state of Washington.
